Fourth of July Family Photoshoot at Beavertail State Park | Jamestown, Rhode Island

Last summer, I had the absolute pleasure of photographing a beautiful family session over Fourth of July weekend at Beavertail State Park in Jamestown, Rhode Island, and it truly couldn’t have been a more perfect summer evening. With ocean views, dramatic rocky cliffs, and golden coastal light, Beavertail is one of my favorite locations for Rhode Island family photography, especially during the height of summer.

This family was visiting Rhode Island on vacation and wanted to document their time together in a meaningful way. Summer trips like these are so special, and a photoshoot is the perfect way to preserve memories that go far beyond what phone photos can capture.

Perfect Summer Evening

The weather gave us everything we could hope for. Warm air, a soft ocean breeze, and that dreamy golden-hour light that Beavertail State Park is known for. Fourth of July weekend brings such an energetic, joyful feel to the coast, and it added an extra layer of magic to the session.

The natural beauty of Beavertail created the perfect backdrop. From sweeping ocean views to textured stone paths and grassy cliffs, every corner of the park offered variety while still feeling relaxed and timeless.

Multi-Generational Family Photography

One of the most meaningful parts of this session was capturing grandparents with their grandchildren. These moments are incredibly special and often become the most treasured images years down the line. Watching grandparents laugh, walk hand in hand, and share quiet moments with their grandkids was a reminder of why multi-generational family photos are so important.

We focused on a mix of:

  • Full family portraits

  • Grandparents with grandchildren

  • Individual family groupings

  • Candid moments filled with laughter and connection

The result was a gallery full of authentic, emotional images that truly reflected their family dynamic.

Why Beavertail State Park Is Perfect for Family Photos

Beavertail State Park is an ideal location for:

  • Vacationing families

  • Large or multi-generational groups

  • Summer and sunset sessions

  • Natural, candid photography

Its open space allows kids to explore freely while still offering stunning scenery for timeless portraits. It’s especially beautiful during summer evenings when the light softens and the crowds begin to thin.
